O ciclista
espanhol Miguel Induraín (Miguel Angel
Induraín Larraya) nasceu em Villava em 16 de Julho de 1964. Ganhou o Tour de France de
1991 à 1995, sendo o primeiro ciclista a vencer o evento cinco vezes
consecutivas.
Em 1994
estabeleceu o novo Recorde Mundial da Hora a 53.040 km. Em 1996, nos
Jogos Olímpicos de Atlanta, os ciclistas profissionais puderam
participar das provas de ciclismo e Induraín ganhou a medalha de ouro
no contra-relógio individual.
Em 1992 e
1993, além de ganhar o Tour de France, também venceu o Giro d'Italia.
Depois de sua
conquista olímpica, Induraín largou as competições de ciclismo.
